Old Forest Piper (August 2005)

Bookmark and Share

Whistle wildly, old forest piper.
The willows will shake and dance
As we twirl in linens crisp and white—
Hair flowing, bodies entranced.

Walk ahead, old forest piper,
Straight down to the moonlit sea.
We shall follow, tied to musical reins,
Little slaves to the banshee.

Wade in, old forest piper,
In frozen waters that steal breath away.
We shall swim, dive in, naked as sirens.
Leave us to die, Pied Piper, among the ocean spray.
