Detailed Description

This was my submission in a 2007 deviantART portfolio design competition. There’s a reason I left that website. This was a 2007 competition for something they were promising was just around the corner; it’s 2009, now, and still no portfolio option, as far as I know.

Hi, I was looking for other people’s portfolios on Deviantart through Google and saw this.
Great design! Anyways, Deviantart now has portfolios. They are only for beta testers (subscribers) at the moment to see if there are any bugs though. But they will be out for the public soon.

And is this really for portfolios? It looks like it is a design for a regular Deviantart Gallery page. :|

Hi Amanda,

Good to hear that deviantART is finally keeping its word to (some) of its users, albeit three years late!

When I designed this, dA’s user pages were really outdated and square-looking. Here’s an example I randomly pulled from Archive.org. It’s more that their gallery pages are more like this design now, than vice-versa. They updated, and it happened to look a lot like this. If you’re curious about the details of this design, and why it was created the way it was, the write-up is still available over at deviantART. I had reasons for creating things the way I did.

I haven’t been a user of deviantART since shortly after this submission. I got tired of the administration constantly promising features that it never delivered. If this is your case, I highly recommend RedBubble as a community and for its good job of listening to users and fulfilling many of their demands, in short time.

Thanks for visiting, despite your unnecessary cattiness! :|
