An Anthropological Look at YouTube

Date: July 30, 2008

I follow Michael Wesch’s blog pretty closely, and he’s most recently uploaded a video of a presentation he gave at the Library of Congress. The presentation itself is an anthropological look into the world of YouTube, and it lasts for 55 minutes; it’s well worth a watch if you have the time.

I did find the presentation somewhat utopian in its beliefs, but I do not think this savvy professor is too far off the mark at all. When Internet and mobile technologies have been and are the fastest adopted media in our history, it says a lot. Changes a lot. Though I don’t share all the utopian feelings in this presentation, I am positive–very, in fact. The way we communicate today, I feel, is better than ever before, and good results will come from that.
