With 84% of the data missing, can we conclude that the Justice Deparment hires more conservatives?
Date: June 25, 2008
One of my first stops for news is the “most popular” news on Yahoo!. I start here, not because I believe I’ll get tremendously valuable information or often anything that uses critical thinking in its writing, but because I know thousands of others do just the same. I am fascinated by what is considered most important to people, and even more fascinated as to whether that information is in any way truthful after careful study. Today’s browsing led me to an Associated Press article that I’m sure many people are taking very seriously, Report: Justice Dept. passed over Dems, liberals. This article, like many, leaves out important information, makes sweeping assumptions, and, in the end, doesn’t come to many solid conclusions.
Hump Day Funnies: Hate Mail from DandurP
Date: June 18, 2008
Here’s the latest bit of hate mail I’ve received, from one, DandurP (of Virginia), who obviously forewent the usual hate mail alias in favor of his true identity. What? DandurP doesn’t sound like a real name? Well, real name or not, it seems I’ve gotten Dandur’s dander up.
“Cloverfield” Review: A slightly different kind of science fiction.
Date: June 17, 2008
My main reason for watching “Cloverfield” was that it used the style of filming that it did, of which I am interested in (i.e., media within media). From friends, I’d heard mostly positive things, and well, their positivity wasn’t misplaced, in my opinion. “Cloverfield” delivers in a unique and mostly effective manner. Throughout the film, I found myself nervous, uncomfortable, paranoid and even a little claustrophobic–all this, and I was just watching on a television. I can only imagine what it was like in theaters.
Sensationalism Naturally, or How News Can Be Misleading

“According to the latest research, species around the world are going extinct faster that previously thought, at a rate not seen since the extinction of the dinosaurs. The Living Planet index which was released today shows that due to destructive human activity, the diversity of all life on earth has decreased by over 30%, nearly a third in fact in the past thirty-five years.” –World’s Species Going Extinct Faster than Scientists Thought
Ten points of food for thought within.
Hump Day Funnies: Thong Alarm

For when you don’t want to look like a ‘ho.
I have just finished The Worst Class Ever (and hope I’ve passed).
Date: June 10, 2008
University continues to be about my getting that little piece of paper that pleases the questionably-intelligent masses. While I have an interesting class here and there, there are a lot that don’t teach me much that I don’t already know (or can’t easily find out) and more than a couple that remind me how poor mass education can be. Because degrees aren’t tailored for individual educational needs or desires, I ended up in a required course called Multimedia Technology. This has really been the biggest pole up my other end all this semester.
