Hump Day Funnies: Asimo Eats the Floor

I get tingly thinking about the humanoid robot that is Asimo. It’s so amazing that I get excited about it and so cute that I want to cuddle with that hunk of metal and plastic. Before I show you the epic fail that makes this Wednesday’s hump day funny, I think I should also show you just how cool Asimo is, so you don’t mistake him (him? it?) as being just another shoddy experiment in modern robotics.
Here’s the official commercial for Asimo. Just try to hold back your “awws” at the extreme cuteness.
And here’s Asimo doing a lovely job of conducting the Detroit Symphony Orchestra (yeah, I was shocked Detroit had one, too).
Sadly, though, even Asimo has his flaws. While I do believe this is an earlier model (the legs look longer, which could contribute to instability), it’s still pretty hilarious to see Asimo face plant.
Sorry, Asimo. I laugh at people when they fall, so I have to laugh at you, too.

I wondered that, too. At a $1 million price tag, you don’t exactly want Asimo to be getting boo boos.

I popped over to the official Asimo site, and while they have a video section, alas, I don’t see the one of it crashing down the stairs. :)
