Literal Meaning and Context

Date: May 19, 2007

Kavita:
It’s interesting how words are not only words, but they carry so much behind them past their literal meaning.

Lelia:
Indeed. it’s not only interesting, but strange. Words have always fascinated me, much as numbers–only difference being I’m inclined to understand words more easily, apparently. Like the simple word “tree,” for example–just who the hell decided? I mean, I know it took time, evolution from other languages, but still. At some point, someone fucking called it a tree. And that both amazes me and bothers the hell out of me. Maybe I wanted to call it a “cat.”

Kavita:
Or a snarlk.

Lelia:
No, that’s a form of herpes.

Kavita:
WHO SAYS? DX

Lelia:
God. Now eat your veggies.
