The Ramen Noodle Files: Of Intrigue and Disgust

I like ramen noodles, and I couldn’t possibly be any more disturbed by that than I already am. The fact that I’ve got a full meal with crackers and a wait of two or three minutes is pure bliss. I dislike cooking (or more so the cleanup afterward), and so if it is easy to fix, easy to clean up after and fairly cheap to buy, you can bet I’m there.
However, there is another side of me that keeps saying neon-coloured vegetables that taste incredibly good yet somehow unnatural are not a good thing. Just take a look at this picture of a pea from my recent ramen noodle excursion.
Even if I assume this–like its other ramen vegetable brothers and sisters–came from a very healthy plant, I know that I’ve never seen a plant, healthy or unhealthy, produce results of this kind. It simply cannot be real. I have a feeling this was created, perhaps in some foreign, slightly dodgy building, along with my jeans and the shirt I’m wearing. Outsourced vegetable.
That’s why I had it for lunch.

Are you sure that’s ramen noodles? That looks like instant noodles with mixed vegetables in it. You’re right about one thing though…it is making me hungry. Then again that could be because it’s lunchtime and I haven’t eaten anything since dinner last night.

Sorry, Edrei. Bit of a colloquialism. Instant noodles = ramen noodles in my American English. I see it on some of the stuff here, too, but yes, they are instant noodles. ;)

Well, instant ramen noodles it is then. Now all you need is to be sitting on the floor crosslegged eating this and you have something that came out from Japanese anime. :)
That would be a good snapshot for a picture though. :)
