- The media loves to be political. AP Incorrectly Claims Scientists Praise Gore’s Movie shows just how crooked the press can get.
- The above isn’t the only example of media word twisting. The Herald Sun, and Australian newspaper, has an Crucifix banned by school, which is about how a school has banned one girl from wearing her crucifix necklace. While the article is written in a way to suggest the school is against Christianity, it is actually about the school not allowing any jewelry–cross or not. A few of this girl’s classmates have commented on the article, my favorite being: “She hasnt been BANNED from wearing her cross. The school rules say all jewelery should be covered. If she actually buttoned her uniform up she can still wear the cross without any problem. Not that it is particularly relevant, but is she a practising christian who attends church regularly or is this just a demonstration of rebellion against authority and a media beat up” (Shaun Kelly of Sunbury, Victoria). Guess that’s the danger of the media allowing commenting on articles. The truth gets found out!
- Go take a look at Julian Beever’s pavement drawings. Absolutely amazing stuff!
- I have no idea why one would need Cliche Finder, but it was a good way to waste some time.
- If you’re one of those people who is disturbed by search engine companies’ collecting your data, you can now use a Firefox extension called TrackMeNot. Now, as to why I think your worries over their collecting your data are stupid…that could take a whole entry. Still, TrackMeNot is something for you if you’re paranoid.
- The Times released its picks for this year’s 50 coolest websites. I had never seen The Human Clock before now, and I have to say, it is pretty cool!
