Tall of stature
A fortress by the sea
Lacking of smiles
A general of his own right
Honoring all with equal respect
Oak and ash of the forest
Steadfast and wise
Dark eyes of the Muse
A potter of many creations
Clever and witty
A poet of the ages
Quick of temper
A force to be reckoned with
The last standing stone of many
True to heart and soul unfailingly
To stand still beside his companions
A man of honor no less than before
One whom I shall never forget
My unwavering friend.
This was written in 2003 as an assignment for an English class I was taking. The style is one I don’t like and wouldn’t have written, had it not been required. The theme has meaning, however, and is in honor of several people, specifically boys/men, who have been in my life. Even if those relationships ended bitterly ultimately, they were, for a time, very important to me and my personal growth.
