One Pulse by Lelia Thomas

A set of crimson lips to kiss
And fire held behind your eyes–
Do you dream of two hearts as one?
Of breathy whispers ‘til sunrise?

Curtains can be pulled closed,
Bed linens hastily undone;
Red lips to drink redder wine;
Your body to entangle, to entwine.

Midnight glow upon pale skin,
Lover’s light and lover’s sin,
Passion’s pulse and muscle’s curve,
Whispered names in confidence.

Your hands on bared arches
Stars shaking, fading, dying control–
Time stilling for lover’s vibrato
With you to entwine, as one soul.
